"RedEye was extremely thorough and prompt with my project. I am very pleased with the quality of the parts, which worked perfectly for my application: converting CT Scans into real parts for "anatomically-correct" cardiology applications."

Accelerating Digital Manufacturing

Take one look at this full-scale custom motorcycle and you'll see how RedEye On Demand and Autodesk plan to accelerate direct digital manufacturing (DDM).

Thousands of clients trust us to provide quality prototypes, but now manufacturers can see how our technology offers real solutions for end use parts as well. This is primarily possible because we use fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology. Our FDM technology gives manufacturers the accuracy they need to create large, complex projects, like this motorcycle.

The motorcycle pictured above is comprised of approximately 190 parts that fit so perfectly, wheels turn, handles twist and lights illuminate.

The right technology is essential, and so is choosing the right material. Built using ABS M30 high strength production grade material, the motorcycle is proof positive that thermoplastics can give manufacturers the durability they look for in quality production parts.

Not every digital manufacturer would take on this kind of challenge. Thankfully, our facility has access to more than 100 FDM machines, giving us the ability to accurately produce the largest and most challenging projects with ease.

Enamored with our ability to streamline the digital manufacturing process, Autodesk has made it possible for users of AutoCAD to "3D print" end use parts directly from their design software through RedEye On Demand. Now users can not only see their 3D image on their flat screen, they can print it to a reliable digital manufacturer and receive their 3D products in days.

To learn more about the ability to print thermoplastic parts directly from AutoCAD, read our "New Quoting and Ordering Capabilities with AutoCAD 2009" article below.

New Quoting & Ordering Capabilities with AutoCAD 2009

AutoCAD 2009 subscription customers now have access to enhanced quoting and ordering capabilities thanks to a new bonus pack. Included in the new bonus pack is on-line ordering capability, giving designers and engineers the ability to get instant quotes and place orders from a trusted vendor – all from their desktop.

“This new capability will help designers save time and cut costs which are crucial in the product development cycle,” said Wayne Olson, Vice President of RedEye On Demand by Stratasys. “With architects and home builders constantly striving to get buy-in on their concepts faster, we are delighted to work with Autodesk to further improve the productivity of all AutoCAD designers.”

Having the ability to get models quickly enables designers to review concepts with team members and customers, a significant advantage to gaining quicker buy-in.

With RedEye On Demand, the designer may choose to print their 3D model with RedEye On Demand for mechanical AutoCAD designers, or RedEye ARC customized for designers in the architectural and residential building fields.”

RedEye On Demand Add-in for SolidWorks – Now Available

Screen capture of what SolidWorks CAD designers will see when using the new RedEye On Demand add-in.

When you think about SolidWorks, what comes to mind? For most designers, it’s 3D mechanical CAD (MCAD) software. And, while that may be what they’re known best for, that’s not all there is to SolidWorks.

If you use SolidWorks to design new products, you’ll want to download the latest version of the RedEye On Demand CAD Add-in today. This new add-in allows users to get instant price quotes for digitally manufactured parts from RedEye On Demand all from the comfort and security of their SolidWorks application.

During quoting, your SolidWorks model and its geometry stay safely on your machine. When you give the system permission to upload, a STL file is uploaded over a secure internet connection. Your SolidWorks model never leaves your computer.

Requirements: SolidWorks 2005 and newer

Rhino® Plug-in

Screen capture showing digital manufacturing made easy with the new step-by-step RedEye On Demand add-in for Rhino designers.

Users of Rhino can now receive instant price quotes for digitally manufactured parts directly from their Rhino application.

Thanks to a new software plug-in, created by RedEye On Demand for Rhino, only basic model data is transferred to RedEye On Demand to obtain an instant quote. The quotes are based on services offered by RedEye On Demand, which houses nearly 100 additive fabrication systems in its facilities worldwide, most of which offer fused deposition modeling (FDM®) technology – one of the best methods for producing end use parts.

When you are ready to order, a STL file is uploaded over a secure internet connection. Your proprietary design never leaves your system.
